MIAMI subscriber Jill Marriott has been busy making lots of dollies. You can see more of her work on our Facebook Page. Here she shares with us how to make this really cute Christmas dolly – perfect for a gift and fun to make.
What you’ll need
- Felt for jacket and hat
- Cotton fabric for the body parts
- Fabric for skirt
- Optional – tulle or net for an underskirt
- Hot glue gun
- Small buttons and trim to embellish the jacket
- Stuffing
- A little wool to make the hair

How to make up
Place the pattern pieces onto the fabric and cut out allowing an extra quarter inch seam allowance (1cm).
Sew together all the body parts, leaving an opening where indicated. The arms are sewn all around the edges and then you make a slight cut at the top of one end and turn it the right side out.
Stuff the body and limbs well. Stuff the arms and slip stitch closed the cut you made in order to turn right side out. This will be hidden when the sleeves are attached.
Turn under a narrow hem at the base of the body, insert both legs and sew securely in place.
Make up the jacket, placing the right sides of the fabric together and and sewing the two sides to the back piece. Turn to the right side and press if necessary. Sew the sleeves, leaving the straight edge open and insert the arms with sufficient arm showing beyond the sleeve as a hand.
T
ake your skirt material and sew the short ends together to form a band. Hem the bottom or use pinking shears if you prefer to have a zig zag effect. If you’re using net, do the same process and place underneath the skirt. Sew across the top of the skirt using long running stitches and pull the thread gently to gather to fit the waist. Secure the skirt to the body with a few stitches.
Place the jacket on the body and secure with a few stitches or a drop of hot glue. Trim with braid or whatever you want to use as embellishment.
Attach the arms within their sleeves to the sides of the body with hot glue. The shoulder end of the sleeve should be closed leaving the straight edge open near the hand.
Make a couple of plaits with the wool and attach them to the head before fitting on the hat.
Make up the hat, and turn to right side and attach with the glue gun, attaching any trim with glue.
For the face, make two small dots for eyes and add a little blusher for her cheeks.
Variation
She can be made into a Christmas angel by gluing wings to her back using double felt and a running stitch all round, attached with hot glue

Hi Love this little cutie, but when I downloaded the template the pattern for the jacket and hat was missing. Guess she'll have to go 'au naturelle'!
