Our friends at Start UK have just launched a new creative craft initiative to get school kids making new objects out of junk. It’s called Start Imagining.
The aim is for children to use their imagination to take junk and reclaimed materials and turn it into something new -as well as showing how to set up a craft club at school. The programme is for both primary and secondary schools.
We’re right behind Start UK in this initiative to encourage young people. Creating arts and crafts from scrap is a great way of teaching them about materials reuse. It’s right in,ine with our big push this year to get everyone thinking outside the bin.
To launch Start Imagining there’s a competition From Tip to Ship – to transform reclaimed materials into a model boat in celebration of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee this year. The winning entries will be displayed at the Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich, London.
